DIY decor: Botanical styling, table favor box

The plantable seed paper box is a popular favor, holding your favorite candy, tokens, or anyunique filler.  These darling little favor boxes arecharming and colorful table dressings, so simple to color-coordinate.  Attach a pretty printed tag, some ribbon, et voila: celebrate now!

At each setting on the dinner table, it is nice to place a favor to mark the day and provide a decorative take-home favor. This box is made of plantable paper! for your guests gardens or window box, to enjoy and remember the festivities in days to come.

We suggest adding little printed tags with each guest's name along with a note ~"Thank you for coming and being part of our day".

SeedPaper Box is shipped flat, scored and slit.  Easy and fun to  personalize!

Planting instructions are pre-printed on the bottom flap.

1.   Surface Decoration:
You can draw, print, paint, or rubberstamp on the flat box.

Here we used a wrap-around script in coppery pearl , printed with a teenie screen

Tools and materials:

2 or 3 flowers, Dried or Silk, to match table

10-12" lengths of ribbon in coordinating colors,   1/4" wide

  craft hole punch

After any surface decoration is complete, fold along  score lines to create the cube. Tuck in bottom flaps, leaving top open as shown.

Use your hole punch to make holes in top where each stem will be inserted.  Then close box, folding top flap into closed position. Use a pencil to mark where the holes align on the inside flaps.
Re-open box and use hole punch at each marked point.
Insert your goodies! Re-close the box.   :~) Ready for gift wrap (~:

RIBBON WRAPPIN':
Lay ribbon across top, avoiding holes. Run it down the east/west sides, cross at the bottom and back up the north/west sides.Tie a loopy bow - or two - and cut the ends at a sharp angle.

You can tuck the ends under, or if you use curling or wired ribbon, stroke it into random graceful lengths. Maybe a couple of random curlicue spots too, if it's long enough.

We used a soft non-wired ribbon, trading the fun of coil wrapping for the delicate transparency of shimmery gauze.

Personalizing Ideas - a few things to consider

This project  can be adapted to any occasion by modifying the elements.

Switch out the flowers for spruce or holly, add a decorative ornament and some wired ribbon...emboss a monogram or seasonal emblem...tie a bead or a metal token to each tie end or glue a dried flower to the tips of the ribbon.

Above all, have fun!
Even the preparation  can be part of a celebration,
another opportunity to count our blessings.

  • CLASSIC:
  • Sheer ribbons for a romantic look
